2020 Reading Challenge
As of September 14, I have reached my 2020 goal of reading forty books! Although I have not completed all of the prompts on my list, I have read additional books that caught my attention, and I accomplished the book count portion of my goal. When I started, this was a daunting task, despite my love of reading. I’ve never really tracked my reading before, so I really have no sense of what a typical year of reading would include for myself, but I do believe that having a goal in mind has kept the pastime more of a priority.
It’s been fulfilling to engage with a pastime that I dearly love in a way that has felt more deliberate and focused. It’s made me expand my reading scope, exposing me to some fantastic stories. I’ve also been trying to push myself to write reviews of more books and make recommendations, which has compelled me to pay closer attention to my reading.
I intend to forge ahead with the remainder of my goal, completing all of the prompts. This may become a little difficult; the remaining prompts have been the ones that have given me some trouble so far. I’ll begin to do some digging around to see what recommendations are out there for them.
Of the forty I have read, (in no particular order) here are my Top Ten:
They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera
The Institute by Stephen King
The Immortalists by Chloe Benjamin
Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens
American Dirt by Jeannine Cummins
Transcendent Kingdom by Yaa Gyasi
A Little Life by Hanna Yanagihara
Small Game Hunting at the Local Coward Gun Club by Megan Coles
From the Ashes by Jesse Thistle
Ask Again Yes by Mary Beth Keane
Stay tuned for more posts about my love of reading, book reviews and an update on the remainder of my challenge!
