Amsterdam Day 7
Sadly, we've come to our final full day in Amsterdam. Our only scheduled sight today was the Van Gogh Museum. We spent just under two hours there, following the timeline of Van Gogh's life and art. The last food we wanted to ensure we tried in Amsterdam was pancakes, so this was our next stop. We spent the remainder of the afternoon walking and exploring more, revisiting many of our favourite spots and making a loop around the centre of the city. The rain pushed us back to our Air BnB to pack for a little while. After a little more walking to get our final helping of the canals during Golden Hour, we grabbed a bite to eat before heading back to The Pijp. We finished off the evening a little early with our final patio beer.
Coffee
• Afternoon Coffee: De Groentemeesters. Found yet another adorable café just around the corner from our apartment. I swear I could spend a year in just that neighbourhood and never discover everything. This coffee carried us into our final evening of soaking up the city.
Food & Drink
• Pancakes Amsterdam. Ooooh, what a treat. This was the final thing on our food experience list. I ordered the Goat Cheese, Spinach & Pine Nut Pancakes and added bacon. The options all looked phenomenal, and in another visit, I would probably consider one of the sweet options.
• De Groene Vlinder. Found an outside seat with a heater and cozied up for a final Amsterdam beer.
Highlights
• Van Gogh Museum. I enjoyed this museum. There is something very interesting about the smaller and more intimate exhibit. The exhibit is presented so that you walk through the timeline of Van Gogh's short life, getting a chance to see his art as well as the work of his closest friends.
• Surprise Spottings. There had been a couple of small sights that I had either seen on Instagram or came across in my reading that we didn't actively seek out or were uncertain of where to find them. We happened upon both the fall pumpkin display and the narrowest Tea Shop. We hope to visit the tea shop on a future trip.
• Final Walk. We spent our last couple of hours revisiting the city's streets, simply soaking up the beauty of Amsterdam. My husband and I spent the time reflecting on our trip and enjoying each other's company.
