Exploring at Home

My husband and I took this week off together for a “staycation.” We’ve come to learn that we usually need a little break between Christmas and any spring/summer vacations that we have planned. It’s about halfway over now; we’ve been deliberate about sending our time in ways that makes this week off feel relaxing but also full. We’ve, in some ways, treated it as though we are travelling, exploring areas of our city we usually aren’t in and planning experiences we wouldn’t usually, especially during a workweek.

It’s important for me to make sure that I have these small adventures throughout my year. I love to travel, but of course, I can’t be travelling all the time (that’ is the dream.) I am incredibly lucky to have a partner who feels the same and is willing and excited to take part in this. This type of break allows me to recharge while also exploring my own backyard.

I highly recommend treating your city like you’re visiting from time to time. Try a new restaurant, coffee shop, or walk around in an area you don’t typically spend time in. It’s a great way to take a break from your typical patterns and feel like you’ve taken the tiniest of vacations when you can’t actually get away.
