Montreal Day 3
This was our final day in Montreal before heading out to Quebec City. We didn’t have any particular plans but intended to mostly explore and putter throughout the city.
Coffee & Drinks
Crew Collective. I discovered this incredible looking coffee shop and coworking space on Instagram and had to check it out. It’s located in a heritage building that use to be a Royal Bank of Canada. It was a stunning building, the ceiling was incredible and I loved that the teller windows had been preserved. The only downside was it appeared that every other person in Montreal also wanted to see this cafe, we waited a fair bit of time in quite a line.
Reservoir. We stopped for an afternoon beer on our way back to our Air BnB. It was hot and muggy, Reservoir’s beers were perfectly refreshing in that moment.
Brasserie les Soeurs Grises. We finished our final evening with a beer at this little brewery that is located in a former nunnery. My husband had the NEIPA, while I tried the raspberry beer.
Food
49th Parallel Coffee/Lucky’s Donuts. We spotted a 49th Parallel, which we had first discovered in Vancouver. We already had coffee but were basically drooling over the idea of Lucky’s Donuts. We stopped for a little morning snack and each had a French Crueller. These donuts are beyond incredible, they are fluffy and simply melt in your mouth. There are a lot of things I would consider doing to secure a Lucky’s Donuts here in Calgary.
Shushu Bar a Poke + Sushi. As we headed up to Saint Joseph’s Ortary we stopped for some sushi. Shushu did not disappoint. The sushi tasted fresh and was perfectly filling for the middle of the day.
Escondite. We strolled through Old Montreal looking for a place for our final dinner in Montreal. We’ve developed a recent love of tacos and Escondite’s adorable patio caught our eye. It was very busy but we had the benefit of being only two people so got seated right away. I had the Baja Cod tacos and was very pleased.
Experiences/Sites
Clock Tower. We made a quick stop at the Clock Tower, otherwise known as the Tour de l’Horlage in French. It was lovely to hang out by the water for a little bit, watching boats head out for the day. It was also interesting to see a little beach in the city!
Saint Joseph’s Oratory of Mount Royal. Can you tell we love to visit churches when we travel? Their architecture and history are truly like nothing else. The Oratory is the tallest church in Canada and one of the largest domed structures in the world. The Votive Chapel was awe-inspiring to say the least.
