Amsterdam Day 1

Departed Calgary at 8:55pm and after an 8-hour overnight flight we landed in Amsterdam mid-day on Friday. We made it to our Air BnB by 3pm. As is our style we quickly dropped our stuff and took off to explore. We had no particular plans or destination in mind for our first evening, just got into the hustle and bustle of things. 

Coffee

First coffee of the trip came from Waldo Chocolade & Patisserie. Delicious coffees when we are on trips are always a priority and this one did not disappoint.

Food

We decided to pick up some takeout for our first night and settle into the Air BnB to recuperate a little. We got some delicious Vietnamese from Pho 91.

Highlights. 

• We saw the Northern Lights during our flight! Such a phenomenal experience, nature is so amazing.

• Airplane waffles. A small highlight but after 5 hours of drifting in and out of a surface level sleep it was nice surprise. I wasn’t expecting breakfast on my flight and I am always thinking about when and what I am going to eat next.

• The pure bliss of seeing Amsterdam in real life for the first time. There is no taking a bad photo of this place. We wandered around in complete awe of the gorgeous buildings and canals.
