The Boy at the Top of the Mountain

I loved the concept of this book and had high expectations coming from the author of The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas. I liked the story arc, following Pierrot and the development of him into the dark and unlikeable character he became. It was certainly a risk to turn this young, gentle boy into the person Boyne brought him to be, but I think that it does reflect the influence of power and fear well. While recognizing that this is a young adult book, I did really want more from the story and this is primarily what made it three stars for me.  The timeline progressed forward too quickly for me and I wanted the narrative fleshed out more.
